With experience and licensure, your earning potential increases significantly. Licensed private investigators in the U.S. earn an average of $82,202 annually, with the top 25% making over $93,000 . In Illinois, the average annual salary for unlicensed PIs is around $66,290, and those in Chicago average $24 per hour.​ Subcontracting is another avenue for licensed PIs to enhance their income. Subcontractors often charge between $50 to $80 per hour, depending on the complexity of the assignment and regional demand.

Online Introductory Training Course (The Taste Test,

Our two-week online training program is perfect for individuals seeking an introduction to the private investigation profession. This course provides comprehensive foundational knowledge of investigative protocols, methods, and industry insights. It serves as an excellent "taste test" to determine if a career in private investigation is suitable for you. Upon successful completion, participants receive a certificate. Many attendees subsequently pursue advanced courses to deepen their skills or begin a career path. This course is also ideal for business owners or anyone with a curious mind interested in learning investigative techniques beneficial to their personal or professional lives. It's a cost-effective and convenient starting point for newcomers. This course is great for beginners and it is VERY satisfying. 

Illinois 20-Hour PER Card Training Course

(In-Person) $395.00


Our popular in-person course, hosted at our Arlington Heights, IL location, is designed for those interested in obtaining their Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC Card), which is required to legally work for licensed private investigation or security agencies in Illinois. This practical, hands-on course covers state laws, investigative scenarios, equipment usage, and essential industry protocols. Participants complete an open-book examination and mandatory fingerprinting (state and federal) and submit their application to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). This course also deals with all the laws and regulations involving being a private investigation within worthy working in the state of Illinois. This goes over all the multifarious services involving private investigation like surveillance process serving interviewing report writing and other multifaceted aspects of private investigations. While this course primarily benefits Illinois residents, it’s also beneficial for out-of-state individuals interested in working within Illinois Or possibly throughout the United states where this methodology is accepted.

 

(7) Seven-Day (ITI) Intensive Private Investigation &

Our most rigorous offering, this intensive seven-day (in-person) seminar takes place at our Arlington Heights location with various training exercises conducted throughout the Chicago area. Participants will experience 12-14 hour days packed with hands-on instruction covering:

  • Surveillance techniques (mobile, stationary, covert)

  • Technical Surveillance Counter-Measures (TSCM), including electronic sweeps

  • Evidence collection for criminal and civil court

  • Intelligence gathering

  • Civil and criminal investigations

  • Detailed report writing

  • Online, business, and insurance fraud casework

  • Interview and interrogation skills

  • Behavioral analysis and body language

  • Executive protection and personal security tactics (lethal and non-lethal)

This challenging course emphasizes mental endurance, practical skills, and tactical knowledge rather than physical fitness routines. It's recommended for serious candidates, including law enforcement, private investigators, and executive security personnel worldwide. The course requires a thorough background check and costs $3,200, inclusive of lodging, meals, and training materials (airfare not included).
